Someone else's home
I never lived in one of these buildings. I've been inside them though, visiting people, and that's where this came from.
01, The same flat
Every flat in a Soviet panel block has the same layout. Same kitchen, same living room, same balcony, floor after floor, building after building. Millions of families got the same rooms.
And every one of them feels completely different once you're inside, because of what people did with it. The carpet on the wall. The cabinet with the good glasses. Where the sofa went.

02, Memory
There's a control called Memory. Turn it up and the whole place fades like something you half remember. The colour goes, the detail goes, the sound gets muffled.

By the end the only thing left is the outline of the building. I think that's true of these places. You forget whose flat it was. You still remember the block.
03, The notebook
Our notes live in a notebook on a desk inside the piece. You can grab a page and turn it. That took longer to get right than I'd like to admit.

You can read more about the project in the notebook.
04, What got thrown away
The first version was all dots. It looked like data, not a home.
Then a version where every surface had a scanned texture on it. It looked like a pattern.
Then big text panels stuck to the walls like signs.
Every version that looked more accurate felt less true, so we kept taking things out.
for everyone who opened their door to a guest.

“Naram is an excellent web designer, who excelled in delivering a quality product in an efficient and effective manner. He was specific in understanding my goals, and also kind enough to explain some of the finer points of web design. His prices were reasonable for the top-notch work he performs, and I’d 10/10 recommend him for any web design needs you may have!”
